Weekly Update 1.22

CoTA Presentation- Tomorrow.

Your students have been working on their scripts all quarter and are looking forward to their performances tomorrow. We hope that you will be able to attend! It will be from 2:15-3:15pm in the auditorium.

Please check with your student if they have special clothes they need to bring for their costume tomorrow.

Journey to America Interview

Hello parents,

In your student’s folder last Friday, I sent home a little project to work on over Thanksgiving break. Students will be interviewing a family member to see when your family first arrived in the United States of America. There is an interview sheet with directions attached. Please have your student return this paper when we come from break next week. In class, students will use their interview sheet to write a narrative from the point of view of their family member immigrating here. This will give your child a chance to learn about their family history as well as practice thinking about someone else’s perspective.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Friday Reminders

  • Please remind your 4th grader that library books are due today! Everyone will be taking an AR test on their book this morning if they have not done so already this week.

  • Students also need to return the “Soda Free Challenge” (blue form) to the pool today for our last day of swim.

  • There will be no weekly report this today because we haven’t had much time for AR and Achieve.

Swim Lessons Field Trip- Tomorrow!

Reminder- Our field trip to the Loma Verde Pool for swim lessons begins tomorrow! Please have your 4th grade student bring their swimsuit (1 piece suit for girls), towel, water bottle, sunscreen and snack in their back pack. We will leave folders and books at school. Students will be back in time for lunch.

Book Fair

Students visited the book fair on Tuesday and we will be returning on Thursday. You may send money with your student if you would like them to purchase any books tomorrow. The book fair is also open before school and after school if you would rather go with them. All money you spend on the books goes right back into our school-including books for our classroom library. We hope to see you there!
